News Release

re: C O M B A T, the Literary Expression of Battlefield Touchstones

The staff of COMBAT magazine is pleased to announce the successful completion of its second year of publication. Despite many challenging trials, we have overcome the embryonic difficulties of any new enterprise, and our maturation continues. We are gratified by the kind and generous support which has sustained this unique endeavor.

Since its inaugural issue in January 2003, COMBAT, the Literary Expression of Battlefield Touchstones, has garnered a diverse audience of writers and veterans to its website: http://www.combat.ws/. Our readers have sought sensitive and thoughtful expressions; and our contributors have sought an open forum for the presentation of complex and personal observations. Combat is a venue for the stories behind the news, for the flesh on the bones of history, for the echoes from too many silenced hearts and minds.

This electronic periodical (e-mag) is dedicated to superlative writing expressive of wartime insights and experiences for entertaining a general audience. COMBAT magazine perpetuates the tradition of its predecessors, and seeks to fill this formerly vacant niche by exemplifying the significance of such an implacable subject.

The mission of COMBAT magazine is to impart the historical reality and to disclose the psychosocial effects of warfare to the general reader. Each quarterly issue of this heterogeneous publication will contain original essay, story, and poetry compositions entailing basic battlefront and homefront themes on the ordeal of spiritual sanctification wrought by the crucible of war. Motifs will express how combat can forever alter ordinary lives, inform their extraordinary outlook, and render authentic voices on the exigencies of human conflict.

Readers are also welcome to visit the ancillary and supporting materialS sharing the COMBAT e-mag website. Editorial policies and back issues are presented for public information. Authors and artists may submit relevant work to the staff by e-mail: majordomo @ COMBAT .ws.
