Survival of the Fittest
We have vainly sought for the source of our incredible
misery,
and, although we're our own worst enemy,
we've discovered that
there's no problem so obvious,
there's no swindle so obscene,
there's no indulgence so outrageous,
there's no cause so obnoxious
that we will not readily
flee it!
There can be no greater sacrifice than
self-preservation
... at any cost!
If the survival of the
fittest hypothesis
was truly an inviolate law of natural selection,
then ineptitude, incompetence, and lassitude
would be self-extinguishing characteristics
that would be automatically expunged from human evolution
... but stupid people are
wily and tenacious enough to breed well ... and often!
