Senseless Stories about Man's Glory
Senseless stories about man's glory,
Ageless conflicts told on high,
Evil witches bound in stitches,
Burning Pilgrims in the sky;
Count the eager warrior's treasure,
Fill the soul with tokens bold,
Let the marksmen fire their arrows,
Slay the innocent, the war unfold.
Senseless stories about man's glory,
Conspicuous anger, irrefutable hope,
Stir opinion, mass the minions,
Engage in battle, colossal scope;
Armor shining, generals divining,
Steroidal muscles at full might,
Cry the sorrows of the victims
As vast armies torch the night.
Senseless stories about man's glory,
Killed one day, revered the next,
Fill the churches with the sermons,
Mourn the lost ones, ignore the rest;
Crown the heads of god's own children,
Bloody laurel upon bloody knee,
Let the learned recount the legends
Of the worst that man can be.
