In Iraq it was like
the Fourth of July,
Seeing Freedom in their eyes
was enough to make you
cry,
Smiles, the Cheers,
and Dancing in the
streets,
To know Saddam and his government
ran away in defeat.
I look now at my TV
and smile with great
pride,
To know that our government
was actually on their
side,
Their side of Liberty,
Freedom, and Justice for
all,
No matter what
the type of duty may call.
I saw them tear down the statue
and drag it through the
streets,
And waving the American flag
showing Saddam's defeat,
I saw the torture chambers
and walked with them through
the halls,
And felt the fear
inside those tiny, concrete
walls.
When I watch it,
it's almost like a Fairy Tale
come true,
Courtesy of our Government
and the Red, White and
Blue,
To watch them rebuild
will be a gift to our mighty
nation,
A token of friendship
and appreciation.
So I'm thinking it over again,
my feelings of this great
turmoil,
No, it wasn't just about
losing our lives over oil,
It was about Freedom, and Rights
and all those things
previously fought for,
That's why this great nation
of ours went to war.
It was about our children growing up
in a society so free,
It was about justice,
and the American Dream,
It wasn't just about Iraq
and their oil,
It was the pride
standing on top of this
American soil.
So as I sit and reminisce
of all our lives lost,
I'd rather lose our lives to this
than drugs, alcohol, or murder
being the cost,
So I stand up and salute you,
every soldier who fought for
the American Way,
And thank you oh so kindly,
for Iraq's Independence
Day.
